Siam Garden Cafe: 1130 N. NIMITZ HWY #A-130

Craving some calamari and Thai iced tea, we made our way down to Siam Garden. Just off of Nimitz hwy (not far from the previously reviewed La Tour Cafe). If youre in the mood for Thai food, or just up for trying something a bit different, this place comes highly recommended.

Upon entering the building, you cant help but notice the decor.

Very interesting Asian artwork around the restaurant. Though my personal favorite, had to the the ferns growing out of bottles of patron. lol

We were seated quickly, and before even being handed our menus, knew that we needed a round of their Thai tea. Our waitress took our drink orders, dropped off our menus, and was on her way. Very polite.

Im still not sure why i bother to look at the menu when i go out to eat. More often than not, i leave my decision to the fine folks at Yelp. With the click of a button on my phone, i can read reviews, get suggestions, and even see what items to stay away from. Its amazing, the advances technology brings to everyday situations.

A quick browse through the reviews turned up a strong recommendation of their Thai stuffed chicken wings. And who am i to go against such an overwhelming response. Stuffed chicken wings it is.

As we were finishing our selections, the waitress came back with our teas. And let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. A bit stronger than I’m used to, but still very good. If you haven’t had Thai tea before, id suggest going to your nearest Ba-Le and ordering one. You will be pleasantly surprised. I know i was.

Yes, i know. The orange elixir is a bit strange. But trust me, its delicious.

I got my calamari that id been craving, along with the stuffed chicken wings. We also got some Thai sticky rice and Panang curry (a pretty standard offering at any Thai restaurant)

And a short wait later, it all arrived..

I have to say, this was some of the best calamari I’ve had in a while. They use a coconut milk batter, and serve it with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Boy am i glad we came here

Stuffed chicken wings, served in a little ceramic boat.

An interesting vessel. Whats inside?

Oh, that’s right. The sticky rice.

A delicious blend of sweet, savory and spicy. This place is not one to be missed. We left satisfied, and with food leftover. This will not be my last stop at Siam Garden

…until next time
